In 2024, while working with a large referral hospital in Nairobi, our founders watched a team of three finance officers spend the entire last week of every month doing nothing but comparing Excel spreadsheets — matching SHA remittance printouts against a list of submitted claims, row by row, cell by cell.
The cost wasn't just time. Duplicate payments were missed. Underpayments went uncontested. Denied claims expired without follow-up. By conservative estimate, the hospital was losing over KES 400,000 every month to reconciliation errors alone.
We built ClaimReconX to solve that — starting with the African context: SHA's unique claim formats, the way AAR and Jubilee send remittances, the reality that most facilities don't have dedicated IT teams, and the need for a system that just works when you upload a file.
